Live Webinar: Have Stem Cells in Equine Medicine Stood the Test of Time?

07/07/2026

25 Years of Equine Regenerative Medicine — An Honest Panel Discussion

Twenty-five years ago, stem cell therapy entered equine practice with considerable promise. A quarter of a century on, we’re bringing together three leading voices for an open, evidence-based conversation about what’s actually been learned.

This isn’t a sales pitch, and it isn’t a series of presentations. It’s a genuine discussion between colleagues — looking honestly at where stem cell therapy has added real value, where the evidence has been less convincing than expected, and where the field is heading next.

Joining the panel:

  • Dr Sue Dyson — world-leading authority on equine lameness and poor performance
  • Dr Almudena Pradera — Founder & Chief Scientific Officer, EquiCord; developer of HorStem® and DogStem®
  • Dr Manuel Parache — Equine Veterinarian and Sports Medicine Specialist
  • First-opinion practitioner – To be confirmed

Chaired by Greg McGarrell, who was involved in the original development of equine stem cell therapy 25 years ago.

Topics under discussion:

  • Have stem cells lived up to the expectations of 25 years ago?
  • Where does the published evidence genuinely support their use — and where does it fall short?
  • How has the science evolved since the early days?
  • Patient selection: which cases benefit, and which probably don’t?
  • Tendon injuries and osteoarthritis — has the evidence held up?
  • Where do stem cells now sit alongside PRP, ACS and polyacrylamide hydrogels?
  • What’s next: improved cell therapies, cell-free biologics, exosomes or gene therapy?

📅 Tuesday 28 July, 18:30 (UK) / 19:30 (CET) 60 minutes of discussion, followed by 15 minutes of live audience questions.

Unable to join live? The full discussion will be made available afterwards as an on-demand recording.
